Whether it is a brushstroke of cadmium red, or an expressive line of charcoal, my artwork depicts ordinary human emotions through the study of a figure. My interest in the human body was sparked through a figure drawing class, where I learned how to illustrate formal elements while drawing the model. In my art work, I explore varied mediums of charcoal, ink, gouache, and oil pastels, to create art that expands upon the composition, space, and line of the figure. Through my process, I construct figures comprised of bold-expressive lines set in spatial depth, which invoke the viewer to conceptualize a certain sensitivity or emotion in relation to my art.
